About

SudokuGen by New Media XP (“NMX”, “we”, “us”) creates and solves sudoku puzzles. It comes in two forms:

The web app, for creating, solving, playing and sharing puzzles, at https://www.newmediaxp.com/app/sudokugen.
The code library and command-line tool, for creating and solving puzzles in your own projects: a C# library (also as a Unity package) and command-line tool, and a JavaScript library.

This policy covers both: the web app in your browser, when you install it from your browser, and in any app store where we offer it, and the library and command-line tool wherever you get them.

NMX is an independent developer, not a registered company. You can reach us at the contact details at the end of this page.

Information We Collect

None. SudokuGen, in every form, works entirely on the device that runs it and sends nothing to us. It has no account, no ads and no analytics, and we don’t sell or share anything about you.

What’s Saved On Your Device

The web app uses your browser’s own storage on your device. None of it is sent to us.

Your current puzzle, so you can carry on later: the puzzle, your entries and notes, the cells you revealed, and the size and number of blanks you chose.
Your light or dark theme, if you choose one on our website.
An offline copy of SudokuGen, so it opens without an internet connection.

To remove them, clear the site data for www.newmediaxp.com in your browser’s settings.

In the web app, a puzzle’s share link holds only the puzzle’s code, and its seed number when SudokuGen knows it. It holds nothing about you.
If you share through Facebook, Threads, X, LinkedIn, Reddit or Pinterest, that site opens in a new tab with the link filled in, and that site’s privacy policy applies. Your device’s share sheet works the same way, with the app you choose.
Puzzle codes you paste in, including links from Shaolin Sudoku, are read only on your device.

Technical Information

The web app is part of our website, which Cloudflare hosts. When your browser loads it, Cloudflare receives the request, including your IP address and browser details, to deliver the page and protect the site from attacks. Cloudflare may keep logs of requests for a short time, under its own privacy policy. We see only totals, such as the number of visits, not who visited.

The web app sets no cookies. Cloudflare may set its own cookie to protect the site from bots and attacks.

App Stores

If you get the SudokuGen web app from an app store, the store handles the download and may collect information about it, under its own privacy policy. The app itself works the same way as on our website.

Code Library And Command-Line Tool

The library and the command-line tool run on your own computer, or wherever your code runs. They make no network requests and send nothing to us or to anyone else.
The library reads and writes no files and keeps nothing. It works only with the puzzles your code gives it.
The command-line tool reads only the input file you name, and writes only to the output file you name. It keeps nothing else.
When you build the library into your own app, game or service, your own privacy policy covers its users. The library adds nothing to collect.
We publish them, and their source code, on NuGet, npm, OpenUPM, GitHub and GitLab. Each of those sites handles the download and may collect information about it, under its own privacy policy. So may the tools you install them with, such as the .NET SDK, npm or Unity.

Children

SudokuGen is for everyone, including children. We don’t collect personal information from anyone.

Your Rights

We hold no information about you, so there is nothing for us to look up, correct or delete. Everything the web app keeps is on your device, and you can delete it yourself as described above. If you have a question about your privacy, contact us.

Changes

This privacy policy may be updated from time to time. When it changes, the date at the top changes too. If a change is significant, we’ll also say so in SudokuGen or on our website before it takes effect.
